The inspiring story of the visually impaired civil services officer – pranjal patil

 

 

When a visually impaired person makes headlines, it always it a source of inspiration. Even though the person being spoken about is from Maharashtra, this video highlights the journey of the candidate and her success story in Assamese so that it may prove to be inspiring for the people there too.

 

The video showcases the determination and dedication of a young girl Pranjil Patil , the first visually impaired woman who attempted to and made a success of writing her UPSC exam. Born in Ulhasnagar Maharashtra, she was born visually impaired. At the age of 6 she lost total vision. However she did not give up easily. She graduated from St Xaviers in Political Science. She did another course from the JNU in International Affairs. Subsequently she further qualified herself in completing her MPhil and Doctorate. The amazing thing was that she decided to take up the entrance exam for the UPSC. To help her understand and learn better she took the help of a software that read out all the study material to her. This helped her tremendously. She passed with distinction in 2017 and was in the top 125 ranks. She was appointed as Asst Collector at Eranakulam, Kerala in 2018. Currently she serves as Sub Collector at Tiruvanathapuram in Kerala.

 

Pranjil is an inspiration to the many who attempt to write the UPSC Exams irrespective of whether you are normal or purple.
